Your Hosts at Indian Rock

Your Hosts at Indian Rock: A short story from Tom and Beverly Schweder: Owners ~ Hosts at Indian Rock.

Beverly and I know the value of escapes and getaways. We lived and worked in New York City for many years, and traveled to the Bucks and Hunterdon County on weekends to escape the frantic rat race pace of New York City. We found something here that we did not feel in other places. The area was “old”, the pace was slower, and not too pretentious as other resort destinations around NYC.

Over the years we came to appreciate the area even more for it’s incredible landscape, warm intelligent down-to-earth people, fine dining, art and antiques. It was this love of the area that led us to buy the Indian Rock Inn. We had been wanting to buy an old Inn for some time when one day we were driving up River Road on the Pensie side and happened on an old 3 story building tucked into the side of a rocky mountain with a “For Sale” sign on it. We fell in love with it. This secluded little Inn with nothing around it but water, rocks and trees was unlike any other retreat spot we had ever seen. We were astounded by the views from the restaurant and the hotel rooms. We knew that this was “our place”. A year later, this unique Bucks County Inn was ours and we started the rehab of the building that was now our new home, and our new life.

Since then, we have been very lucky to make marvelous new friends that have come to stay with us at the Inn, to dine with us in the Restaurant, and to sit down and have a drink with us in the Barking Dog Saloon. We welcome you to come for a visit soon also and discover what we did about the incredibly beautiful relaxing part of the country, and why we fell in love with this place called The Indian Rock.

Whether you are seeking an escape from New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, Charleston, New Hope, or Paris, we think that “this rocky place” on a winding, rolling rural road with one lane bridges will hook you like it did us, and that you will come back over and over again to be recharged and refreshed as we have.
